Project Overview

The Project Overview is a separate window that gives you a bird’s-eye view of every Gridshift project stored in iCloud Drive, with its own inspector for the selected project. Projects are grouped into collections you create and displayed as artwork cards in horizontal carousels. Open it with ⌘O, or from the Command Palette (⌘K) by searching for “Projects”.

Collections

A collection is a named group of projects you create — an album, a production stage, a shortlist, whatever suits the way you work. Make as many as you like, each with a name of your choosing. A project can belong to more than one collection, or to none: anything unfiled appears in the Unsorted section. Drag a card between sections to move a project into a collection, or set membership from the Collection menu in the Project inspector tab under Info.

Collections replaced the five fixed workflow statuses earlier versions grouped by. The first time you open the Project Overview after upgrading, your existing statuses are carried over as ordinary collections — rename, merge, or delete them like any other.

Features

Cover artwork

Every new project gets its own generated cover — a field of color bands, unique per project — even when it comes from your default project template, whose cover is never inherited. Replace it with your own image from the Project inspector tab’s Info section. Older projects with no artwork at all show a placeholder icon.

Selecting vs. opening

Click a project card once to select it — that shows the card in the inspector without opening it. Double-click a card, or select it and press Return, to open the project. If the current project has unsaved changes, Gridshift prompts you to save before switching.

Inspector

Selecting a project shows it in an inspector alongside the grid, with Open, Show in Finder, and Delete actions, plus two sections you can use without opening the project:

Versions — play any saved version’s bounce straight from the inspector.
Comments — the same list the iOS Companion writes into while listening. Add, check off, or delete a comment in place; a comment written from the phone shows a time chip naming the version and position it was left at.

New Project

The New Project button in the top-right corner creates a fresh project (using your default project template if one is set).

iCloud sync

The overview monitors iCloud Drive with a live metadata query. Projects saved on other devices appear automatically once synced. Only fully downloaded bundles show manifest details (artwork, BPM); evicted bundles are skipped until re-downloaded.
