A group track acts as a sub-mix bus. All child tracks route their audio through the group, so you can apply shared effects (e.g. a compressor across all drum tracks), control the group volume and pan as a whole, and use the group’s mix controls on the summed signal. Select tracks and press ⌘G to group them. Press ⌘⇧G to ungroup.

Visibility

Group tracks appear in the sidebar track list but not on the timeline. Only the child tracks show clips on the timeline. Select the group track in the sidebar to access its Inspector and effects chain.

Nesting

Groups can contain other groups. There is no limit on nesting depth.

Reordering

Drag tracks in the sidebar to reorder them within or between groups.

Color Inheritance

When a track has Use Group Color enabled in the Inspector, it follows the parent group’s color automatically.
