Folder Structure

When iCloud Drive is enabled, Gridshift creates its own folder in iCloud Drive. In Finder, navigate to iCloud Drive → Gridshift to see:
iCloud Drive/
  Gridshift/
    Projects/ .gsp project bundles
    Presets/ .gspreset effect presets
    Settings/ plugin-categories.json

Projects

The Projects folder is the default location for Save (⌘S) and Open (⌘O). When you save or open a project, the file dialog starts here. Projects saved in this folder sync automatically to all your Macs signed into the same Apple ID. Each .gsp bundle contains the full project state — tracks, clips, effects, automation, embedded audio samples, and version history. Everything travels with the file.

Presets

The Presets folder stores effect presets (.gspreset files). Presets sync across devices in the background — Gridshift monitors this folder for changes and updates the preset browser automatically when a new preset arrives from another device.

Settings

The Settings folder contains app configuration that syncs across devices. Currently this includes plugin categories — custom category names and plugin-to-category assignments are stored as plugin-categories.json and merged automatically when changes arrive from another Mac.

Local Fallback

If iCloud Drive is unavailable (not signed in or no network), Gridshift falls back to ~/Documents/ for project storage. Presets fall back to a local application support directory. You can move projects to iCloud Drive manually via Finder at any time.
