Narrow the list with tag chips

Work through Review

Review lists the samples you have not tagged yet, grouped by the tag they sound like. Click a + tag chip to tag one sample, or Tag All to tag the whole group. A − tag group lists samples that sound like something else: Take Off All removes the tag. Fine as Is takes a sample out of Review without a tag.

Good to know

  • Suggestions need Smart Search and a few samples of each kind tagged by you. Without them Review says so instead of guessing.
  • Suggestions learn from what you do. Your own tags count most; a tag you take off counts against itself and is not suggested for that sample again.
  • A one-shot gets one role: an 808 named “bass” is a bass, not also a kick. Every sample also gets loop or one-shot, from its Type.
  • Your own tags carry a tag mark in the inspector; suggested ones a sparkle.
  • Typing a tag completes it in the inspector and the command palette (Tab).
  • Tag chips, Save and By Tags collections work in the iPhone Library too, and sync both ways.
  • Review on the iPhone groups by the Mac’s suggestions. The Mac works them out and sends them; tap a group chip, then Tag All.
  • On the iPhone you can only take off your own tags. Take off a tag read from a file name on the Mac.
  • Maker and pack tags that a sample’s name starts with, such as “Envy”, and import folder names: they say where a sample came from, not how it sounds.
  • drums, loop and one-shot, which follow from other tags and the sample’s Type.
Next: Tempo, Key and Type to correct a sample’s loop or one-shot Type.
