Let the project finish downloading
A project not yet on this Mac downloads when you open it. Wait while Gridshift shows Downloading from iCloud…; the project then loads with its audio, which is stored inside the project.
Bring offloaded samples home
With Optimize Mac storage on, rarely used library samples keep only a small copy here and come back when you use them. To fetch them ahead of time, select them in the Sample Library, right-click and choose Download from iCloud.
Get sample audio onto your other devices
On iPhone, No preview or Not in iCloud means the audio never left the Mac. On the Mac, open Settings → Library and switch on Sync samples. See iCloud.
Good to know
- There is no relink command. A saved project keeps its own copy of every sample it uses, so moving or deleting the original file does not break it.
- A file moved before the project’s first save is left out of it, and the save names the missing samples. Put the file back and save again.
- A sampler preset whose sample is not on this Mac cannot be saved again; the command reads Sample Missing.
- Optimize Mac storage never removes a sample while the transport plays, and only removes files already in iCloud.
