# 3. Arrange

> Part 3 of four: turn your loop into a two-minute song. Copy sections with ⌘C/⌘V, extend them with linked clips, cut a break, and mark parts with locators.

Part 3 of four. Open the song from [2. Add a Bass](/get-started/first-track-bass.md).

## 1. Turn the loop off

Press `⌘L` (**Loop On/Off**), or click the loop button in the transport, so playback runs on past your first bars.

You hear the beat play once and then silence. More: [Loop and Locators](/arrange/loop-and-locators.md).

## 2. Extend the beat with linked clips

Select a clip and press `⌘D` (**Duplicate Clips**) a few times, or `⌘`-click empty spots further along its track. Each copy is linked: an edit to one changes all of them.

You hear the beat carry on for as long as you extended it. More: [Linked Clips](/arrange/linked-clips.md).

## 3. Copy a whole section

Click a clip on the top track and `⇧`-click the clips of the same bars on every other track. Press `⌘C`, click the bar after them on the top track and press `⌘V`; repeat until the transport shows about 2:00.

You hear the song run for about two minutes. More: [Clips](/arrange/clips.md).

## 4. Cut a break

Select the drum clips in one 4-bar stretch near the middle and press `⌫`. Keep the bass playing through it.

You hear the drums drop out for 4 bars and slam back in. More: [Clips](/arrange/clips.md).

## 5. Mark the parts with locators

Click where a part starts and press `⌥L` (**Add Locator at Cursor**), type a name such as *Break* and press `Return`; or right-click the ruler and choose **Add Locator at** that bar. Press `⇧End` and `⇧Home`, or click a locator, to jump between them.

You hear playback start right at each part you jump to. More: [Loop and Locators](/arrange/loop-and-locators.md).
