# Quantize

> Snap clips and MIDI notes to the nearest grid position. Swing-aware, with automatic overlap trimming.

Select clips or MIDI notes and press `⌘U` to snap their start positions to the nearest 1/16 grid line. Quantization respects the current [groove](/features/groove) settings — notes land on grooved positions, not a straight grid.

When quantization causes overlaps, Gridshift trims clips and notes at their edges rather than deleting them.
