# Default Project

> Save your preferred track setup as a template for new projects.

## Save as Default

Set up a project with your preferred tracks, effects, and settings, then save it as the default template:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Configure your project (tracks, effects, routing, metronome settings, etc.)" />

  <Step title="Open the Command Palette and search for Save as Default Project">
    Open the Command Palette (`⌘K`) and search for **"Save as Default Project"**
  </Step>
</Steps>

Every new project (`⌘N`) will now start with this template. The template includes:

* All tracks and their configurations
* Effect chains and plugin states
* Routing and group structure
* Audio samples (embedded into the template)

The project name is reset to "Untitled Project" when loaded from the template.

## Reset to Factory

To remove your custom default and go back to the blank starting point:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Command Palette and search for Reset Default Project">
    Open the Command Palette and search for **"Reset Default Project"**
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the reset" />
</Steps>

New projects will start with Gridshift's built-in empty project.
